Local Grief Support
Grief Support
Grieving is as natural as the setting of the sun. Grief is a complex, but perfectly normal and necessary mixture of human emotions. Mourning is a process of healthy expression of grief brought about by the loss of a loved one.
Rolands Funeral Service cares about you. Our personalized and caring grief support services are designed to aid those in grief.
"There is help and hope for all those who grieve."
-Dick Krambeck
The staff at Rolands will help you in the steps of growth that take place during the mourning process. There is help and hope for those who grieve and mourn. It is our observation that as we progress through grief, it is best to seek the support of those who adopt a companionable attitude toward you and avoid taking to heart comments from folks who do not understand your need for compassion. Let us at Rolands be with you in your journey to reconciliation.
At no charge, Rolands' Funeral Home offers grief support to those families who have utilized our services as well as to others in the area that have this need.
Our Grief Support Group
Our GriefShare Group meets on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the Funeral Home at 204 East 5th Street and our family home at 1011 East 10th Street in Atlantic. Warren and Amy Jo Roland are currently guiding this group. The helpful GriefShare Study includes the showing of videos of people who give their testimonials and of grief experts counseling; we go over the "YOUR JOURNEY FROM MOURNING TO JOY" workbook lessons; and have group exchange during sharing times.
Bereavement Counseling
The group focuses on learning through individualized study and sharing of experiences. We are pleased also to offer one-on-one counseling by retired rural Methodist minister and football coach, Dick Krambeck, who guides this group. We have found Dick to be experienced and caring in the sensitive areas of death grief. His format is designed to help people with the process of grief and mourning. Dick Krambeck is available to provide caring, individualized grief support. Please call our funeral home at 243-5492 or 877-243-5492 for an appointment if you would like to meet with Mr. Krambeck for a visit about your needs.
The Roland Lending Library
Our lending library has a wide variety of books and educational materials, dealing with death of a child, spouse, parent, and various topics. The public is encouraged to come in and check out these resources during the weekday business hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Our Group Events
Besides our regular weekly meetings held on Tuesday afternoons, we offer a picnic and a fireside potluck gathering of past and current support friends each year. If you have an interest in joining us, we would love to have you come and to bring someone special along with you. Please contact us at (712) 243-5492 to make sure there are no changes in our weekly schedule, and so we can share the current time and location.
